Prologue

Brothers and sisters, today’s topic of Treasures for the Soul is “The Father made the Lord our eternal High Priest by an oath (1).” Psalm 110 foretold that the Lord would be made a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. For us, the Lord offered up His life. It’s so precious that He also overcame all. One day, the church will be finished, and the Lord will return. All things will be restored. We will celebrate with the Lord and reign with Him! God will vindicate for the Lord and us. He will execute judgement among the nations. The glorious scene foretold in this Psalm will be fulfilled in its entirety.

Message

Psalm 110 verse 1 says:
“The Lord says to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’ ”
The Lord is coming soon, and verses 2 and 3 will soon come to pass. Let’s read these 2 verses
“The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments;”

We will see the glory and love of the Lord. The rest of verse 3 says:
“From the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours.”
It’s so precious that the Lord offered up His glorious youthful life.

Verse 4 is a “diamond” verse. Let’s read verses 4-6:
“The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.’ The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth.”

Brothers and sisters, all these things will soon happen. This world is getting darker and more evil. If the Lord delayed His return, this world will turn into a “living hell.” This will come true during the tribulation, following the completion of the church. Even though we are not yet in that period, we can see signs similar to the beginning of the tribulation. The world is moving towards the last stage. For example, technology has advanced to the point where a single entity or person could take control of the world. Commerce and human movement are largely under digital surveillance now. Weapons are also becoming more lethal. If the Lord delayed His return, the world population would be destroyed entirely. The human race would become extinct. Then no one would be left to multiply in the Age of the Millennium, since we who are going to have the resurrected body would not get married or multiply.

God is just and full of love. Throughout man’s history, there have always been people who loved God. Even during tribulations, some people will still be faithful to God; some would even die for God. God would not allow this world to become a “living hell,” where man lives a pitiful life. For this reason, the Lord ought to return soon. We have experienced a lot in Hong Kong recently. We understand better how God has been protecting Hong Kong, and has given us peace in the past decades for the sake of His will. All things are under God’s control. He has His plan.

The Lord was designated a High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. He is far better than all the priests in the Old Testament. He is also the King, the King of righteousness and King of peace. It’s so precious that He is also our “Royal Beloved.” He’ll celebrate and drink a toast with us. On the night before His crucifixion, the Lord told us that He would not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when we drink it new in the Father’s kingdom. We will reign with Him in the Father’s kingdom.

This Psalm tells us the Lord is not only the High Priest but also the King. Melchizedek was the king of peace and a king of righteousness; he was also a priest. In the Old Testament time, priests could not be kings, or vice versa. The most difficult prophecy in this Psalm—the Lord becoming our High Priest—has been fulfilled. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit suffered much to fulfill this prophecy. All other prophecies will also come to pass. We are now enjoying His priesthood. Today, He sees the labor of His soul and is satisfied. (Ref. Isaiah 53:11) He rejoices over our love for Him. He knows that things on earth are not perfect. He once said, “In the world you will have tribulation.” (John 16:33) Yet, we need not to worry because the Lord has overcome the world. His plan for us is perfect. He will advocate for us. The church has endured a lot of persecution since it first appeared. God will also advocate for the Lord. In the Age of the Millennium, God will advocate for the Lord and the church. In addition, all things will be restored—man will even be able to walk a lion. Lions will feed on grass like in the days of the Garden of Eden. Cats and mice will play together. There will be so much fun. It’s so precious, this Psalm will be fulfilled in its entirety!

The Preciousness of the Letter of Paul to Philemon

Message Date: March 1, 2020

The letter of Paul to Philemon is very beautiful and touching: Paul, an old man, appealed to Philemon for a servant named Onesimus. In the letter, Paul mentioned that Onesimus was his “very heart”, and whatever he owed Philemon, it was to be charged on Paul’s account. Likewise, the Lord is our high priest, asking for God’s grace for us. The debt that we owed was so huge, but the Lord bore it all for us. He even takes care for our whole life till eternity. The Father set the Lord as our high priest forever by an oath; the Lord was willing to come to accomplish His and Abba’s love dream. The garment of the high priest was very special; in particular, the precious stones on its breastplate symbolized that we are the Lord’s “very heart”. Being our Beloved, the Lord became the high priest so that He could completely solve all our problems.
