Prologue

Brothers and sisters, this is Treasures for the Soul. Today’s topic is “Just as His Anointing Has Taught You, Abide in the Lord”. By His blood, the Lord has established an everlasting covenant with us. The Holy Spirit has already come. He strengthens us and transforms us from glory to glory. 1 John chapter 2 states that the Holy Spirit is the Anointing and He teaches us about all things. “Anointing” conveys that the Holy Spirit is gentle and He is the Comforter. He comforts and guides us. We need the work of the Holy Spirit. We need to heed His voice and follow His guidance. Hence, we will be filled with joy and be closely connected with the Lord!

Message

The work of the Holy Spirit is immense. It is exceedingly precious that now is the age of the Holy Spirit, the age of the Church, and the age of the New Covenant. We have just read from the Bible regarding “the blood of the eternal covenant” (Heb 13:20). It is extremely precious that the Lord has used His blood to establish this eternal covenant. The infinite One kissed me, embraced me, and established an eternal love covenant by His blood. I wrote a hymn about it today. This covenant is everlasting. You may have heard about it many times, but I want to emphasize how precious it is. It’s from everlasting to everlasting. The Lord is a Man forever. His love is eternal and final. “Final” doesn’t mean His love will come to an end, but it will continue forever. Even in eternity, the fulfillment of His love dream will continue.

The four gospels in the Bible tell us that the Son of God has come. He died, resurrected, and ascended to heaven. A most significant event occurred afterwards: the coming of the Holy Spirit! It is extremely precious! The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, they all dwell in our hearts. When the Holy Spirit came, the Lord’s disciples experienced great transformations. Simon Peter received the power of the Holy Spirit, bringing 3000 people to believe in God. They were greatly uplifted. We should experience the same work by the Holy Spirit. Today, we can experience the work of the Holy Spirit and the work of the Lord in our hearts. The Holy Spirit came and He lives in our hearts. This is different from the time when the Lord was on earth. He stayed with His disciples, but He was not living in their hearts. But today, the Holy Spirit came to dwell and to work in our hearts. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all working in our hearts. Isn’t it precious? The Lord has come. The Holy Spirit has also come, helping us to deeply experience the Lord and the Father. Today we can cry out “Abba” and we can deeply enter into the Lord’s love.

Let us read 1 John 2:20, “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.” The Anointing is the Holy Spirit. Wow! What we enjoy today is so amazing! In the Old Testament, prophets, priests, and kings were all anointed with oil. That anointing by oil represents the Holy Spirit. Today, we have truly received the Holy Spirit. We are all priests. The very moment we repented from our sins and believed in the Lord, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit live in our hearts. I believe you felt the difference on that very same day. You were awaken. Though you haven’t read the Bible much, you became more sensitive to spiritual things, with spiritual discernment. It’s a real spiritual experience, not a psychological effect. How else could you have such an amazing transformation after believing in God? It’s because your heart became alive. The Holy Spirit guides and reminds you.

Let us continue onto verse 27 (1 John 2) “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.” If you do not follow the teaching of the Anointing, you will not be able to be close to the Lord, unable to abide in Him and enjoy Him. Your spirit will not be alive. You can feel that something is not right, unable to be heart to heart with the Lord.

It is fitting to characterize the Holy Spirit as the Anointing. The Holy Spirit is very gentle. He would not shout at us “No!” When women use ointment, they would gently massage it onto their skin. They would not rub it painfully unto themselves. The Holy Spirit is very tender. He’s the Comforter–How beautiful! We need much comfort living in this world. However, we shouldn’t disobey Him just because He’s gentle to us. It will be our loss if we do so. Regardless of our situation now, we still need to obey His voice at the end.

The work of the Holy Spirit is in you. You can feel His presence. However, if you are troubled by many things, you won’t be as sensitive to His voice. In the book of Acts, you can also see how the Spirit of the Lord forbade the disciples, and guided them in the path of preaching the gospel. The work of the Holy Spirit in us is very significant and countless. We have a very small booklet about the Comforter. You are welcome to read it. The book lists out the many works of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit loves us so much. He is more tender-hearted and more nurturing than any mother. We are born of the Spirit. We enjoy the same affection from the Holy Spirit as we do from the heavenly Father. The Spirit fosters us, loves us and works in us in many ways. What matters is how much we actually experience the Lord and the work of the Holy Spirit.

About this series:

Series 3: Let Our Hearts be Influenced

Let Our Hearts be Influenced

Message Date: Jan 10, 2020

This world needs people who deeply experience God in their spirits. Nothing can replace this first-hand experience with God. When we read the Bible, it is important that the Lord works in our hearts, letting His words shine through and influencing our hearts. Therefore, we should know how to have fellowship with the Lord. Besides looking for a good environment to draw near to God, we also need to have a good inner environment, suitable for having fellowship with Him, because it is our spirits that are united to the spirit of the Infinite One. Having peace in our heart creates a good environment for our spirit to have fellowship with God and to listen to His words. We should also abide in the Lord, just as the Holy Spirit works in our hearts (as His Anointing has taught us). Whether we read the Bible or sing hymns, we are letting the Lord speak to our spirits, where our hearts can be influenced, attracted and know how to quiet ourselves before Him–our spirits are not blank, but we enjoy more deeply, and receive more from Him. Having fellowship with the Lord can truly help us to deepen our friendship with Him.
