Recently I’ve been inspired by the story behind this beautiful sunflower now growing in my garden. It started off with a simple science experiment for my son’s school. The seed did indeed sprout in the plastic bag, but it had turned mouldy and disgusting. I was ready to throw it in the garbage, but my mom convinced me to try to plant it in soil to see what would happen. To our surprise, the mouldy sprout grew well and grew strong despite my lowest expectations for its survival. Now it stands six feet tall and the flower is blossoming with its natural cheeriness and life.
This flower reminded me that God never gives up on a single one of us. No matter how hopeless we may be at any point in our lives, “Love hopes all things” (1Cor. 13:7). He is diligent to continue to work on us until we can sprout and grow into the strongest of flowers. What’s more, He can cause us to really go from glory to glory and become the blessing and light of others. I’m so glad I have this wonderful flower to remind me every day of God’s amazing love on me.
Today on my birthday, God never ceases to surprise me with the love He shows through all that He prepares for me. Out of all days to open up, today is the prefect day to sweeten my heart. He cheers me on in the past weeks of exhaustion. His love is from everlasting to everlasting and conquers my heart.
